Temporary closure of travel lanes and crosswalks at Atlantic/Sixth now postponed

Updating a post originally published 6/10/17: Earlier today the developer announced that the closure would be postponed one week, from Friday, June 23 through Monday, June 26. Then, in a second announcement, the developer simply said the work "will be rescheduled for a later date."
According to a community notice circulated last week, there will be temporary closure of travel lanes and crosswalks near Sixth and Atlantic avenues around the Barclays Center, beginning this Friday, June 16, at 10 pm, through Monday, June 19, at 5 am.

The work is part of West Portal construction for Pacific Park Brooklyn. Sixth Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Street will be completely closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

The south and west crosswalks at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Sixth Avenue/S. Portland Avenue also will be closed. Pedestrians must follow the sidewalk along the north side of Atlantic Avenue either east to Carlton Avenue or west to Fort Greene Place to cross, as shown in the diagram below.

Also, the right-hand eastbound travel lane on Atlantic Avenue between Fort Greene Place and Avenue/S. Portland Avenue will be closed, reducing the eastbound roadway to one lane.

Traffic Enforcement Agents and flaggers will be on site to assist with vehicular and pedestrian movements. Variable Message Signs will direct vehicles to the approved detour routes.
